Revenue of Baku hotels slightly dropped last year

 BAKU/12.04.10/TURAN: In 2009 aggregate income of over 450 hotels in Azerbaijan dropped by 1.5% and reached 97 million AZN.

According to the State Statistical Committee, last year proceeds from room renting dropped by 4.5% to 63.6 million AZN, selling of food products - by 9% to 18.7 million AZN, but incomes from the medicinal services increased by 19% up to 7.6 million AZN.

During a year state hotels increased their revenues up to 8.1 million AZN. But incomes of hotels owned by private entrepreneurs decreased by 3.8 million AZN, hotels with foreign capital by 2.4 million AZN and totaled 40 and 48.8 million AZN, respectively.

Incomes of hotels totaled 82 million AZN, down 9.4 million AZN against 2008, and they have paid taxes of 14.5 million AZN to state budget. The hotels with 100% foreign capital suffered losses of in average 1.7 million AZN, while local entrepreneurs could increase their annual income up to in average 3.7 million AZN.

83.7% of all proceeds from hotel business fell to those located in Baku. In 2009 annual profit of Baku's hotels increased by 5 million AZN and totaled 11 million AZN. In 2009 hotels of Khachmas region could increase their incomes only by 0.5 million AZN and their total income reached 3.57 million AZN.

Aggregate balance cost of hotels in Azerbaijan is estimated at 390 million AZN. According to the State Statistical Committee, in 2009 3.1 million AZN has been invested into the hotel business.
