Metro is an extraordinarily cheap way to move around Baku, though without knowledge of Russian or Turkish one could find it rather difficult to orient. All signs and directions are in Azeri and of little help to foreigners. To use a Metro you would need to get first a plastic magnetic card (analogue to Oyster in London) costing 2 AZN and charge it with a number of trips. Each trip cost just 15 qepik, so 1 AZN will buy you 6 trips plus 10 qepik will be left on your balance. Before entering any station your bags might be checked by police with metal detectors, this is a standard routine procedure for all, a reflection of past events, when several terrorist acts happened in Metro years ago, so do not worry.
If you would like to get to city centre then from 20 Yanvar station take a train towards 28 May station (passing through the following stations: Inshaatchilar, Elmlar Akademiyasy, Nizami) where you will need to leave and change a train going in another direction to Icheri Sheher station (passing just through Sahil station).
Comfort Inn hotel is an ideal budget stop-over for participants of fairs & exhibitions traditionally held in Heydar Aliev Sport Complex. At peak season with a nu,ber of international events held in Baku many of the hotels in Baku are overbooked, they tend to increase rates and it's quite hard to secure a good accommodation at affordable rate. In this regard Komfort Inn could be a good choice since it's located just 10 minutes bus drive from sport complex.
There is a 24-hour cafe that offering snacks and beverages. Staff is helpful and attentive, though speaks poor English.
