Diplomat Hotel is a medium size budget hotel located in central area of Baku. It is slightly further away from major tourist attractions like Old City and Baku Boulvard but has good transportation links and it ig quite easy to get around the city. The closest '28 May' Metro station is 10-15 minutes walk away and it is literally 1-2 stops to get to the Old City. Or if you don't mind walking it will take you no more than 20 minutes down the street to reach the Boulevard. A 9-storey boutique property, the Diplomat Hotel is only steps from the nice square with fountains and the National Bank of Azerbaijan. 

The Diplomat offers 24 spacious and tastefully decorated guest rooms (3 Double rooms, 18 Twins, 2 Suites and 1 Caspian Suite). The rooms are clean, fairly spacious and clasically decorated for the budget hotel. They are finished in soft, neutral colors creating a calm and relaxing haven. Rooms come with flat-screen TVs, tea/coffee facilities, and soundproofed windows. All include a stylish bathroom with bathrobe and hairdryer. Beds are very good and comfy. WiFi is free and works fast and breakfast is allright. For some reason rooms have an outdated aircon-system which means a large iron box is hanging out of the window, which as it starts raining means like having to sleep with a steel drumband playing next to you. Only suites have another type of split aircon-system which shouldn't have such a problem.

Despite being located in the bustling city centre the hotel is very quiet. On a positive side the hotel is fairly central and the staff, especially on the reception desk is very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is on the top 9th floor with a view across the tops of buildings towards the sea, and is very good. They serve an excellent buffet breakfast there, that is quite varied. Staff is attentive and helpful, but only if you ask; not all of them speak good English. If you want a good base, fairly central, with friendly staff, at affordable prices, then this is a good call.
