Hale Kai Hotel is one of the good budget hotels in Baku. It is not quite central, close to main business and commercial centers of Baku. Major tourist landmarks as Fountain Square, the Old City and the Boulevard are within 5-10 minutes walk or just 1 stop by Metro. Plenty of bars, restaurants and even a couple of local shops for water etc. Due to its modest rates, proximity to tourist attractions Hale Kai is a preferred choice for tourist travelers exploring Baku.
The hotel has a perfect blend of modern architecture coupled with the finest interiors and aesthetic touch. Hotel's interior decoration has been strongly influenced by the works of renowned American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, famous for his art glass windows, tall back chairs and ingenious built-in pieces.
Hale Kai Hotel has just three floors, no lift but the staff will willingly help you with your luggage. The hotel offers 23 spacious, charmingly appointed rooms. All the rooms are done up with classy interiors and are provided with contemporary amenities. Rooms are spacey (large in Soviet style) and clean, though a little tired but fine functioning and quiet enough - even though there is a slight clatter when other guest close the big heavy doors. Beds are really comfortable and and have separate sitting and sleeping areas. Good thing is that rooms are equipped with a little kitchenette, where you can make some tea and coffee. The water boiler and mini fridges in the room are very convenient.
There are three types of rooms: 8 Executive Suite, 11 Junior suites and 4 Single Deluxe rooms. Each of the rooms is charmingly festooned and forwards havens of delight and pleasure. The rooms are spacious and supplied with all the modern amenities. Room decorations include traditional Azeri art works, handmade carpets, stain-glass, parquet and stone flooring. Suites have pull-out couches that can be made up as a second bed upon request.
Friendly staff always smile and wants to help with any question - the only problem they are in most speak broken or no English. They credit card machine seems never function (one of the ways to avoid paying 18% VAT taxe), so be ready to be asked to pay in cash. But there are plenty of ATMs around, so cash withdrawal is not a problem
On the first floor there is a bar where they sometimes play music very loud at night.
Breakfast service is very home-like, more on the "continental" style (customized omelets and fresh fruit and juices). Breafast is good (but eggs mainly - the lovely сook would prepare in front of you different types of omelettes, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, boiled eggs etc.) and is served in the room on the top floor. There is a Georgian restaurant (nothing to do with the hotel) which is in the basement which seems uninspiring but there are a lot of good restaurants on Fountain square and around.
Customer services including an excellent business center and conference facility, Wi-Fi in the rooms, free Internet access, a nice quiet lobby bar, reliable and competent housekeeping and a great location. Front office personnel are helpful as are all staff from the owner to the accountant.
Affordable rates, services offered, unmatched hospitability and personalised service all makes Hale Kai hotel a preferable choice to stay for both business and leisure travellers.
All in all this is a very good 2-3* hotel with good central location, very reasonably priced and with the first class friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
