Sultan Inn Hotel is one of the best places for foreign visitors to stay in Baku. The location is not just excellent, it is IDEAL for the ones who want to be near Inner City, near Boulevard and near modern part of the city! Step out onto cobblestone streets inside Old Baku's walls amidst carpet vendors, traditional restaurants, and the city's top attractions. Staying in this hotel will give you a truly Azeri experience to stay in a boutique hotel in the middle of the Old City. It manages to balance authenticity with all modern conditions. Sultan Inn would suit more to a tourist traveler wishing to explore Baku than to person on a business trip. The walk to the corniche boulevard is 5 minutes only, Karavansaray restaurant is just around the corner, breakfast terrace has excellent views and those who are interested in brands shopping would not be disappointed with location as well.
Hotel is located just next to Baku's most famous landmark - Maiden Tower, 12-15 minutes walk from 'Sahil' station or 'Icheri Sheher' Metro stations.
Sultan Inn Hotel is based in a century old building recently renovated into an elegant boutique hotel lavished with a luxury of Oriental sultans. Just imagine a mansion centered in the heart of Baku's Old City that combine a modern decor with classic oriental design. Also, please be prepared that this is a historic building site so no elevators and one needs to climb stairs when going to the room or o have breakfast/lunch/dinner.
The Sultan Inn Boutique Hotel is truly a small palace with modern hotel facilities. There are only 11 rooms: 7 Superior and 4 Standard rooms, and therefore not so easy to get a room here specially when several people are traveling together. Design and atmosfere of each room is wonderful and different, one could see it was especially designed for comfort and luxury. There is satellite TV, electric fire-place, safety-box, Wireless internet in all rooms. The de'cor is rich and opulent, yet extremely well thought out and tasteful. The rooms are great, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms modern and stylish. Some rooms have sea view. Towels are changed daily. The complimentary fruit bowl and welcome juices is a nice little touch.
You cannot beat the view of the 3rd floor Terrace Garden (where the daily breakfast is held - the cappuccino is a must have!) or the 2nd floor rooftop Q-Cafe'-Bar (with exquisite views of the old city). Terrace bar probably offers the most beautiful and authentic view of the city. The restaurant sits atop the hotel, which is a stones throw (and a good photo opportunity) from Maiden Tower. There is a small outdoor patio, but the whole dining area is wrapped with glass, so the views are spectacular. You will be amazed by the fantastic view and ambience of the place, watching the full Baku moon illuminating the Maiden Tower and the silvery waters of the Caspian Sea. The food and wine is another chapter in itself. The menu and wine list is extensive. The food is succulent and the service professional and efficient. The Sultan Inn is the perfect place for an indulgent lunch. Their Terrace Garden rooftop restaurant is a welcome suntrap during the summer months, with its views over both old and new Baku. Azeri cuisine is fragrant and light – try the dovga soup (yoghurt, rice and herbs) and the nar govurma pilaf (rice, lam chestnuts, onion and pomegranate) with a glass of tannic local wine.
Despite all above Sultan Inn can hardly be called a 5* hotel though - no elevator, no swimming pool, no gym (they say it's a boutique hotel). But the staff is incredibly charming and friendly.
Make sure you stay in this hotel the next time you are in Baku, and if it is not possible, have at least a drink in the hotel's bar or dinner in the restaurant. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, the conditions are comfortable and the services are quick and of good quality. The prices are competitive with other places in Baku and it really worth it. Our high recommendations.
Fantastic location, amazing rooms, good service and genuine hospitality. Overall excellent value for money, and a nice change from the standard chains.
