Azerbaijan tourist visa

Last updated 1 March 2017

All travelers to Azerbaijan (apart from citizens of most CIS countries) should obtain entry visa before they travel. Citizens of Bahrain, China, Kuwait, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, United Arab Emirates have the opportunity to obtain visas in Azerbaijan international airports (Baku, Ganja, Nakhichevan) upon arrival (starting from 1 February 2016). US citizens travelling by the New York-Baku direct flight on Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) are also eligible to obtain short stay single entry (up to 30 days) Azerbaijani visa upon arrival at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku. All other citizens have to have their visas ready before traveling to Azerbaijan

There are now 2 ways to obtain tourist visa to Azerbaijan.

The first way is to apply for evisa (sample of e-visa). This is the most convenient way to secure an entry visa to Azerbaijan. The advantages of evisa is lower cost, online process only (no need to visit embassies or send your passport to them), you get a visa to your email as PDF attachment that you just need to print out. You can enter Azerbaijan at any border entry point with this type of visa. One can apply for evisa for up to 1 year before the planned entry date to Azerbaijan.

The cost of evisa is only 20$ for all nationals and it takes up to 3 days to be ready. The visa will have 30 days validity starting from the day that you put as your arrival day to AZ in request form. To apply directly one should proceed to http://evisa.gov.az and will only need to fill visa request form, upload a scan of the passport, pay a visa fee and then wait when it is ready and emailed to applicant's email address. You might enter AZ later than the visa start day but within the 30 days validity period. Electronic visas will be issued only to nationals of 81 countries listed here. All other nationals will need to apply for visa only through embassies of AZ (see below).

The second way is to apply for visa in a traditional way through the embassy/consulate of Azerbaijan republic abroad. To obtain tourist visa in this way you will need an official Letter of Invitation (LOI) from travel agency licensed by Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Visa support letter has to be on a headed paper, duly stamped and signed. Invitation letter has to be submitted to consular section of Azeri embassy along with application form, two passport-size (3x4 cm) photos and original passport/travel document (must be valid for at least 6 months after the expiry date of the Azerbaijani visa you apply for). It will allow applicant to obtain single entry 30 days tourist visa.

Azerbaijan24.com can provide you with needed visa support documents and guide you through whole process. We still DO RECOMMEND to apply for evisa as the process is much easier and will save you both time & money.

To proceed with a visa support for getting tourist visa via traditional way please make a payment (ask for invoice to pay) of $60 USD, send a scanned copy of your passport along with the following information:

  • Full Name
  • Passport number
  • Citizenship
  • Duration of stay
  • Arrival date
  • Planned Accommodation (Hotel, Hostel, Friend)
  • Your contact details
  • Place of applying for visa (in what country, city)

We aim to process all requests within 24 hours (excluding Sundays). Based on the information received we will issue a Letter of Invitation and send scanned copies of LOI & Tourist Voucher to your email within 24 hours. You will need to print off the documents that we will send you and enclose with application form (some embassies have different forms, so its worth checking their websites. For those applying in London, application form should be filled online on Visa Centre's website) that you will submit to the embassy.

N.B. If your visa is rejected for some reason we refund that fee in full minus bank transfer fees if there are any.

Please note that additional consular fees are paid at the embassy with your visa application. Azerbaijan24.com provide you with tourist vouchers that entitle you to a reduced visa fee of just 20 USD, in other words instead of paying full standard visa fee in the embassy (ranging from 40 to 130 USD depending on the length of your stay and the country of your citizenship) you will pay just 20 USD. Tourist vouchers are provided as part of visa support package only. Bear in mind, that tourist vouchers might not work in some embassies (though they have to be accepted by any Azeri consulate), and you will be charged the full standard visa fee instead of $20. Unfortunately, we have no opportunities to influence embassies on this matter. We also make no refund if vouchers does not work for reduced visa fee. Refunds are made only if the visa is rejected. For situation with the vouchers in some embassies check the embassy report.

REGISTRATION

All foreigners visiting Azerbaijan for more than 10 days have to register with State Migration Service of Azerbaijan. Registration has to be made with the place where the foreigner plans to stay. Registration has to be made within first 9 days after entering the territory of Azerbaijan. Registration is free and is done by receiving side (hotel, apartment owner, hospital, etc) or by travelers themselves. To register a filled-in application form has to sent to State Migration Service by:

  1. e-mail: qeydiyyat@migration.gov.az
  2. handed in person at: 202 Binagadi Highway, 3123 Block, Binagadi district, Baku city, Azerbaijan Republic, AZ1114 (or any regional office of Migration Service)
  3. or online here:  http://en.e.migration.gov.az/

Documents to be emailed/posted: 1. Application 2. Copy of passport's photopage 3. Copy of passport's page bearing an entry stamp to AZ

Once received State Migration Service will enter tourist's information into the so called Unified Migration Information System, register them at the inviting party's address and informs the applicant about it within 1 business day. Registration is done for the period indicated in traveler's visa. No state fees are paid for registration. Failure to register is subject to fine of 300-350 AZN (Euros).

Practical details: The new law is in force since April 1, 2013. If you stay with the hotels they have to register you for free, but the problem is that most of the reception staff is either not aware of the rules, or just don't know how to do it. That is less likely to be an issue in top-end hotels, but with smaller ones that might be the case. Make sure to ask them whether they will register you

All foreigners visiting Azerbaijan for more than 10 days have to register with State Migration Service of Azerbaijan. Registration has to be made with the place where the foreigner plans to stay. Registration has to be made within first 9 days after entering the territory of Azerbaijan. Registration is free and is done by receiving side (hotel, apartment owner, hospital, etc) or by travelers themselves. To register a filled-in application form has to sent to State Migration Service by: e-mail: qeydiyyat@migration.gov.az handed in person at: 202 Binagadi Highway, 3123 Block, Binagadi district, Baku city, Azerbaijan Republic, AZ1114 (or any regional office of Migration Service) or online here: http://en.e.migration.gov.az/ Documents to be emailed/posted: 1. Application 2. Copy of passport's photopage 3. Copy of passport's page bearing an entry stamp to AZ Once received State Migration Service will enter tourist's information into the so called Unified Migration Information System, register them at the inviting party's address and informs the applicant about it within 1 business day.

The new passport will be issued only in 6 weeks and I want to travel in mid May. My question is if I leave Thailand using this passport and when I enter Azerbaijan will use my second passport with another nationality. Of course viza will be on this passport. Is it possible or not? I will be grateful for any reply. thank you very much 2017-04-19 at 03:26
