The Crown Hotel is a 5 star venue built in 2007 and is a part of The Crown Hotels chain. The hotel is overlooking Caspian sea, giving complete sensitivity of tranquility to its visitors. Situated in Bayil district (not the prime location) the hotel is around 10 minutes drive to Baku city centre (10 USD by taxi or 30-40 cents by bus) and haggle the price before you get into the taxi. This hotel is a little way out of town and not in waliking distance. Avoid travelling into the centre during rush hour as this part of town is gridlocked for an hour or so at each end of the day. Traffic is bad after office hours when people are leaving Baku central to go home. The hotel is very close to the new national park on the Baku waterfront. You can get there via a pedestrian tunnel. Many local people take evening walks there and the police are present.
The hotel is an ideal place to stay for the travelers, who long for tranquil and serene accommodation units. The price is very reasonable for Baku and location convenient for those driving into Baku. Sea views are great. The hotel caters mostly for business travellers.
Wi-Fi is functioning, fast enough to skype home. Health center is pretty nice, features gym, pool, saunas and massage rooms.
The Crown Hotel offers 93 excellent rooms outfitted with a great range of amenities. Each of the rooms is beautifully designed and forward comfortable living. The furniture is new and very nice, bathroom is great and has Jacuzzi built-in. There rooms for smokers and non-smokers, but you are advised to ask for non-smoking rooms at the stage of booking, otherwise you risk to be allocated smoking room. Get a upper floor room facing the sea. They are much quieter. Also, rooms with the corniche view are smaller, but the view is amazing, better than watching old buildings. Bed and pillows are comfortable enough. Make sure you get rooms in the new part of the hotel as they will try to put you off with a small room in the older side!
A lovely restaurant & bar, offering amazingly delectable cuisines and various drinks. The restaurant is located on top floor with the view to boulevard and Caspian sea. The breakfast is good, the selection of food is pretty wide (though not а 5* choice), and it is well-cooked. A few types of meat and sausage, cheese, fries, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, fruits, vegetables etc.
The redeeming feature is a very good pool, sauna and steam room. Crown hotel boasts of a well-equipped business center to organise business meetings. Due to its unmatched hospitality, excellent recreational and business facilities and luxurious accommodation, this hotel is sought-after by both business and leisure travelers. In short, The Crown Hotel is the perfect place to experience a cozy stay in Baku.
Calling this a five star hotel is a stretch too far. It looks more like a 3 star hotel. It is acceptable to stay for short time. Overall if you don't get upgraded (or pay for a suite) you get a 3+ or 4- star experience for a not ideal location.
